Currently under production by the famous Altria Group, Virginia Slims were first manufactured by Philip Morris Company launched in the market in 1968. These cigarettes were known to be sold as a variety of Benson and Hedges cigarette until the late 70’s, why, because these two cigarettes had the same taste, design and even had similar promotional techniques. However, after the 70’s Virginia Slims were to be promoted as a unique brand in itself in order to create a market niche for female smokers.
